The Exams Office has been developed by former Department for Education staff who have extensive experience in the field of exams management. They have also previously worked for the National Assessment Agency (NAA), Qualifications and Curriculum Development Agency (QCDA) and the Exams Delivery Support Unit (EDSU).
The founders of The Exams Office are Jugjit Chima (previously National Manager of EDSU's Centre Support Field Team) and Nicholas Marr (previously Head of Exams Officer Training at EDSU). They are supported by ex-EDSU Centre Support Officers and serving Exams Officers and Data Managers.
The Exams Office was formed to support the exams office community after informing and consulting the Department for Education
Numerous focus groups were held before devising the support offering provided by The Exams Office...we listened to what the exams officer community wanted, and we hope that we have delivered a support offering which helps every exams officer in their everyday role.
The Exams Office is truly independent and funded solely by the individuals who formed it. Unlike other organisations/associations which have received over £1m from central government budgets since 2000, no financial backing has been sought or received from the government, awarding bodies or any other organisations.
The Exams Office has the following three core principles.
To produce quality resources which support exams officers and Data and Assessment Managers in their everyday role
To save our members time
To ease the pressure on school budgets
The Exams Office works with key organisations, such as JCQ, the major awarding bodies and the Regional Training Agency, to deliver high quality support for both new and experienced exams officers across the country and throughout the year. We have no association, or affiliation, with the Exams Officers Association.
To confirm our position as the leading independent exams support organisation in the country, we have signed collaboartion agreements with OCR, Pearson/Edexcel and Cambridge International Examinations
From September 2014, The Exams Office enhanced the support for Exams Officers and Data Managers/Staff. For more details see our Membership update - Frequently Asked Questions document..
